Cartoon of the week

You can add a few more "non-scandals" to that vehicle. Maybe the cartoonist is onto something here ...

Where have we heard THAT one before?

"On an issue as sensitive as this, knowing that Americans hold a wide range of views based on deeply held beliefs, maintaining our nation’s commitment to religious freedom is also vital. How religious institutions define and consecrate marriage has always been up to those institutions. Nothing about this decision – which applies only to civil marriages – changes that.”—President Obama, in his statement applauding the Supreme Court's decision striking down a key provision of the Defense of Marriage Act.

Well, we see how long THAT statement holds up.

"Here’s guessing that the Roman Catholics and other religious groups that are in the midst of fighting the [Obamacare] contraception mandate are skeptical of that pledge,” notes Joel Gehrke of the Washington Examiner, in reporting on the president's statement.

The court's rulings on same sex “marriage” weren't a total washout. While the court essentially sidestepped ruling on California's Proposition 8—effectively allowing homosexual “marriage” to resume in that state in violation of the will of the voters who passed the law—the justices did NOT sweep away laws in other states that ban same sex “marriage.”

On the REAL reasons for the push for “marriage equality,” see my previous blog on May 13. And for some encouragement, see this article about a group of courageous African-American pastors in Illinois who stood up for true marriage—and stared down attempts to legalize homosexual “marriage” in the Land of Lincoln, a very deep blue state (if you haven't read about it in the state controlled mainstream press, don't be surprised; as the article points out, the media has been careful to avoid covering this victory for traditional, biblical marriage like the plague).

Two must-read links ... make that three ... while you can

(Updated 5/16/13)

Three must-read links for my readers. And I do mean you MUST READ—before the Justice Department decides to “suspend” my blog for being on the wrong side of political correctness:

Gay Marriage vs. Tax Exempt Churches (Brian Cherry, Canada Free Press)
Though you're sure to disagree with parts of this article, the central premise is chillingly on target: “The gay marriage issue, as it is currently being pursued, is a back door assault on the constitutional freedom of religion and [Bible-believing] Christian churches.”

The Mask is Ripped Off of “Hope and Change” (Jim Geraghty, National Review)
A good brief rundown of the three scandals rocking the Obama administration, with a succinct summation: “You 'Hope and Change' true believers were a bunch of chumps.” Check out the picture at the end of the article. And get ready for more Captain Renault imitations by our beloved Great Leader about the subversion of the Constitution he ordered in these Nixonish acts: “I'm shocked, SHOCKED!”

Glenn Beck has pointed to Obama's “magician” abilities in diverting attention from critical issues with “spontaneous” eruptions in the news cycle. So could the IRS campaign against conservative groups and Justice Department press wiretapping (stories in the previous link) be diversions from a central question in the Benghazi killings? That central question: where WAS our Commander-in-Chief while Americans, including an ambassador, were being slaughtered at a US embassy in Libya? “With Benghazi, we have a Commander-in-Chief who, while acting in that capacity, fits the very definition of MIA, or missing-in-action. Not AWOL as some have proclaimed, but MIA. A schedule not erased after the fact, but an itinerary deliberately withheld from the purview of us all. The Commander-in-Chief inexplicably went 'off the grid' during a time of national and international crisis. He became MIA, but why?”

Obamacare: do your homework NOW

With the Supreme Court's atrocious ruling upholding President Obama's "health care" law (which will wind up providing neither), it's past time to get educated about what we face--unless Obama and his henchmen are thrown out of office in November.
Here's an excellent overview of Chief Justice John Robert's stupefying "reasoning" to justify his pivotal decision, from The Wall Street Journal.

Coming trends, based on what is happening now under the UK's National Health Service: doctors purposely ending elderly lives to free up hospital beds, and bureaucrats banning life-extending cancer drugs available in other countries.

Numerous links on what we face under Obamacare can be found at Joel Rosenberg's blog.

Ironic Picture of Year ... so far ...

What a contrast ... President Obama, whose administration is doing a bangup job of crushing religious freedom in America on an unprecedented scale, holding up an image of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, the German theologian and martyr who is an iconic figure of religious resistance to tyranny. The president received a copy of the book Bonhoeffer: Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy from author Eric Metaxas, the keynote speaker at the National Prayer Breakfast. Now, we can certainly pray that Obama will read this book and learn a thing or two about freedom of religion (as opposed to mere "freedom of worship" he and his co-religionist mouthpieces spout, where religious beliefs, practice and expression stay safely confined in the home or church building while we're forced to worship the "almighty" state).

And here's a Bonhoeffer quote our president can look up, from a radio speech Bonhoeffer gave two days after Hitler came to power in Germany: "Should the leader allow himself to succumb to the wishes of those he leads, who will always seek to turn him into an idol, then the image of the leader will gradually become the image of the misleader. This is the leader who makes an idol of himself and who thus mocks God."

Obama's "Christian" voice silent on Muslim persecution of Coptic Church

You would think that the "Christian" and Matthew 25 Network-supported President Obama would speak out against the recent violence against Coptic Christians in Egypt by Muslims, stoked by the Muslim Brotherhood. But mum's the word from our president and his "progressive Christian" friends. Keith Koffler at White House Dossier has the story here.

Golf's new champion?

Remember when George W. Bush was president, how many in the media--including "investigative" filmmaker Michael Moore--chided him for playing golf? How out of touch! Look at how much time he's wasting. Bush eventually stopped playing golf in 2003, out of respect for those who lost family members in the Iraq War.

Now, fast forward to 2010, and check out President Obama's love of the same game here. A love of the game, it appears, that far surpasses W.'s. Also, check out the last line of the story--it appears Obama's golf obsession is a touchy subject around the White House these days.

Memo to GOP: You now have the perfect ad for the fall elections. Obama golfs while America goes down the drain. Better hop to it.

Obama tells Egyptian foreign minister he is a Muslim

Once in a while I like to run a check on the Matthew 25 Network website, to get their alleged “Christian” perspective on the sinking ship that is the Obama administration. So M25N, what IS your view of president’s mishandling (or non-handling) of the Gulf of Mexico oil disaster? Did Obama’s aides REALLY try to interfere with a congressional election, by offering one Democrat an administration post in return for not running against Arlen Specter? Things like that.

But alas—M25N’s website is nowhere to be found! Is all this just too much for our “progressive Christian” friends? Maybe the real answer can be found in the article here, where Pamela Geller at the Atlas Shrugs website has uncovered public statements by Egypt’s foreign minister, claiming that Obama told him that he is indeed a Muslim. This high official in Egypt’s government would have no reason to lie about his meeting with Obama, and Geller spells out the evidence to back up this bombshell.

The implications are chilling, to say the least. Was Obama simply trying to “impress” the foreign minister? Then this is serious deception indeed for someone claiming to be a Christian. It could well be that Obama never abandoned his Muslim beliefs, but “played church” for social and political reasons (yes, non-Christians, even atheists, have been known to do this—not that “Pastor” Jeremiah Wright’s church could be considered a truly Christian church).

So is it possible that M25N—which ballyhooed Obama’s “Christian testimony” during the presidential campaign—are now crawling back into the woodwork with their folly exposed? In a way, I’ll miss their website: their diatribes against evangelical beliefs (which they withheld until after the election); their pouting about “social justice” (while apparently not doing anything in the way of actually helping anybody); and other such humorous readings. And let’s not forget their slamming of Sarah Palin’s “unchristian behavior” (by the way, M25N, what did Obama say he wanted to do to BP officials in that NBC interview? You may want to check the replay on that one, whenever you get your heads out of the oil-drenched sand).

Who is inexperienced now?

Remember the battle cry of Democrats in October 2008? "Sarah Palin is too inexperienced to take the presidency if something happens to John McCain." Maybe those same voters should have applied that same standard to Barack Obama. Radio commentator Peter Heck's excellent article here sums it up.

Obama's "Christian" voice silent

The outrage over the disinviting of Evangelist Franklin Graham from the Pentagon's National Day of Prayer breakfast is spreading throughout the church world.

But it also brings up an interesting question: President Obama is commander-in-chief of the armed forces. With one word, he can reverse this anti-Christian debacle and bring Graham--son of Billy Graham, who has been friends with every president since Harry Truman--back to speaking at the event. Where is Obama's "Christian" voice now?

Never have we witnessed such anti-Christian bias emanating from the halls of power as we have see with this administration--and it appears it will only get worse. It is now being more clear each day that Obama's "Christian faith," propagated during the campaign by media lapdogs and the pseudo-Christian Matthew 25 Network, was a mere vote-grabbing charade. If the president wants to reassure Americans that he is a "man of faith," reinstating Graham to the prayer breakfast would be a good place to start.

Obama hates Israel?

Check our Dick Morris' excellent assessment of President Obama's continued humiliation of Israel here. The president's recent unprecedented mistreatment of Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu at a recent White House meeting, according to Morris, may be more calculated than many believe. I at first thought the continued slapping of our allies was mere idiocy or naivety--remember how Obamaites jumped all over VP candidate Sarah Palin for her lack of foreign policy experience, while totally ignoring Obama's? You can't get much more idiotic than walking out of a meeting with a head of state while essentially telling that leader to get their act together.

While the liberal Democratic worldview that America is responsible for all evil in the world may also play a part in Obama's foreign poicy ineptness, Morris' assessment should be a wake-up call to Jewish Americans who have been blindly throwing their support behind Obama.

Recently, "evangelical" wolf-in-sheep's clothing Jim Wallis claimed that Obama critic Glenn Beck "hates Jesus" because he exposed the "social gospel" and its Marxist roots. Maybe it's time we appropriate Wallis' lingo to describe the true state of US-Israeli relations, and simply sum it up: Obama hates Israel.

President Obama, put away malice

The following is an open letter to President Barack Obama:

“President Obama, Put Away Malice.

“As Christians, we are called to be respectful and loving toward our neighbors, honoring their intentions even if we disagree with their plans. We are also called to ‘put away falsehood’ (Eph 4:25) and to refrain from slandering, belittling, or speaking out of contempt for anyone.

“If these are the standards God has set for us in our personal lives, our church communities, and our neighborhoods, how much more so should they be the standards of those Christians who choose to be in the public eye? Shouldn't we also expect our brothers and sisters in politics to speak the truth in love and to extend respect and goodwill even to those with whom they disagree?

“In questioning not only his opponents’ policies but also their motivations, President Obama went far beyond what could be considered acceptable disagreement and into what seemed like open contempt for a political opponent.

“To be blunt, we saw very little of Jesus’ love in his recent health care speeches, as he heaped contempt on those who disagree with him politically, while offering no vision for how to resolve the critical issues facing Americans today.

“Therefore, we call on the president to repudiate his attitude of contempt towards political opponents and to tell the whole truth, not only for the sake of a more honorable politics, but also for the sake of our Christian witness in the world.”

By the way, if the above statement sounds somewhat familiar, it’s excerpted, with some changes, from a 2008 statement made by Matthew 25 Network, slamming Gov. Sarah Palin for her speech at the Republican National Convention. And I’m sure M25N will be jumping on this bandwagon, to urge Obama to exercise Christian values in his speeches, backroom deals … I mean negotiations, treatment of allies such as Israel and Great Britain, and in curbing some of that unchristian foul language we’ve been hearing from those around him, including his vice president.

Glenn Beck hates Jesus—or "progressive Christians" hate the truth?

With the health care nationalization debate heating up this week, complete with President Obama’s whining and Speaker Pelosi’s sleight-of-hand attempts at railroading the legislation through Congress (hey, Matthew 25 Network: how about a “Speaker Pelosi, Put Away Deception” campaign? Oh, I forgot—you only attack GENUINE Christians), an interesting slander was pulled off by Obama’s legions among “progressive Christians” against talk show host Glenn Beck this past weekend. According to a Time magazine article by Obama “spiritual advisor” and acolyte Jim Wallis, Beck now “hates Jesus.”

First off, I need to state that I have tons of theological problems with the heresies of the Mormon Church, to which Beck belongs. It must also be noted that Beck is gracious to evangelical Christians appearing on his Fox News TV show; in fact, Joel Rosenberg appears periodically on the show to discuss biblical prophecy as it relates to the Middle East. The criticism against Beck’s exposing the progressive movement’s destruction of America amounts to little more than ridicule of his methods. You hear about his crying on the air, for example, but you never hear where he is wrong on anything of substance (except when his enemies—including among the “progressive Christians” who apparently forget about all those Bible verses about bearing false witness—twist the truth to slander him).

Looks like Wallis’ attack is a desperation shot against Beck’s unmasking the health care nationalization campaign for what it truly is: a power grab by progressives, who want to tell us how to live our lives (Wallis’ clever slander may have also been calculated, counting on evangelicals to stay mum in defending Beck). And the resulting e-mail campaign against Beck by “progressive Christians” is truly pathetic, similar to the one Matthew 25 Network aimed at Dr. James Dobson and Focus on the Family last year. One letter after another (featured on M25N’s website) talked about how the writer loved the “Adventures in Odyssey” radio show while on the mission field, but gosh darn, how awful Dobson and his ministry had become for opposing Obama’s far-left agenda (you know, with all those people being missionaries, you would think the world would have been converted three times over by now).

It’s ironic that, with droves of people awakening to abandon the Obama altar, the ones who stay steadfast in their worship of him claim to be Christians! Maybe they should heed the words of a Christian who was forced to oppose his nation's idolatry of a leader—Dietrich Bonhoeffer: “Should the leader allow himself to succumb to the wishes of those he leads, who will always seek to turn him into an idol, then the image of the leader will become the image of the misleader. This is the leader who makes an idol of himself and his office, and thus mocks God” (from a 1933 speech).

“Little children, keep yourselves from idols,” the Bible warns in 1 John 5:21. That includes political idols, Mr. Wallis.

Obama "trashes" Dalai Lama

For those of you who stil cling to the illusion of our having a "spiritual" president: Here is a picture of the Dalai Lama, the spiritual leader of Tibet, after his meeting with President Obama last week. Note the Dalai Lama is being escorted out the BACK door, and the lovely bags of garbage there to greet him.
Why this back door shuffle? Our brave president doesn't want to upset China, who wanted the meeting cancelled (and who owns about $700 billion of our debt). Regardless of your religious beliefs, you cannot escape the fact that this picture is a slap in the face of the Dalai Lama and the oppressed people of Tibet.
And to those American "spiritual" leaders who supported and campaigned for Mr. Change: how much more proof do you need, to see that Obama is simply a Chicago politician who will dump YOU like garbage at the first opportunity, if it furthers his political interests or pleases his cheerleaders on the left?

Palin and Israel

President Obama's abysmal foreign policy--where he appeases dictators who mock him while stabbing our allies in the back--has created an especially precarious situation for Israel. Now that Iran is well on the way to developing nuclear weapons (according to the UN's atomic energy commission), it's all the more fitting that Jewish Americans reconsider their blind support of Obama.

Follow this link here to an excellent article by Israeli columnist Caroline Glick, on why American Jews should support Sarah Palin and her clear-headed opposition to Obama's destructive foreign policy towards Israel.
